Sidecar Cocktail Ingredients
A classic sidecar recipe has the following ingredients:
- 2 ounces of Brandy (Cognac)
- 1 ounce of Cointreau
- ½ ounce of fresh-squeezed lemon juice

The History of the Sidecar Cocktail
Apparently the Sidecar cocktail was invented during the first World War, when an officer arrived at the Ritz Hotel in Paris in his motorbike with sidecar on a cold winter day. He asked the bartender for a drink that will help him warm up. Brandy would have been the appropriate drink for this situation, but it usually is an after-dinner drink. By combining brandy, cointreau and lemon juice the bartender invented a cocktail that was warming and suitable for consumption before dinner at the same time.
